Dan Hoy
Web Designer/Developer
A well designed and optimally functioning website is, arguably, the most essential of branding elements in today’s business environment. At Firstbase Services, the web design/development process transpires at the office of Dan Hoy.
Dan embarked on his career in design a decade ago, when he began developing his talents through work as freelance graphic designer. Having achieved considerable success in this initial venture, Dan then took the opportunity to further hone his skills at a small sign and print shop; it was here that he would spend countless hours creating original and inventive designs for brochures, business cards, posters and other media. With his interest in interactive media blossoming, Dan decided to formally study the subject. The humble halls of Capilano University provided the ideal setting as Dan was immersed in numerous aspects of the web design cycle – from project management, information architecture and user experience design to visual design, Flash animation and SEO friendly coding with web standards. In addition to his studies at Capilano, Dan would go on to complete a degree in media and communications at the University of the Fraser Valley.
By 2006 Dan had accumulated a wealth of experience and knowledge. With the objective of producing high quality websites that accomplish the goals of his clients, Dan started his own graphic design and web development business. In a short time, Dan had amassed an impressive portfolio of satisfied clients while becoming highly regarded for his innovative and visually stunning designs.
Now at Firstbase, Dan continues to explore new frontiers in design – through his websites he not only effectively communicates a company’s value but brings their message to life.
While Dan’s design related ambitions consume much of his time, he does, on occasion, venture away from his work. Outside of the office he can likely be found reading, experimenting with new recipes, playing sports with his son or enjoying a stirring game of angry birds.
